GOLF
If you are looking for a base to enjoy Scottish Links Golf you will love this location. As well as Elie's 2 golf courses, the famous St Andrews Old Course is only 10 miles away. The Facilities at St Andrews, 'the home of golf' are among the finest in the world comprising 7 public courses, 2 clubhouses, a 51 bay driving range, a short game area, 3 practice greens and replica bunkers. Other links golf can be found at Lundin Links, Crail and Kingsbarns. There are more than 30 Golf courses in a 15 mile radius of Linmara!
BOAT TRIPS
As well as miles of great coastal walks there are daily sailings from Anstruther to the Isle of May, a nature reserve run by Scottish Natural Heritage, boasting incredibly diverse wildlife, a medieval monastery and the oldest lighthouse in Scotland.
WATER SPORTS
Elie Watersports is based in the Harbour and offers sailing, pedaloes, windsurfing, water-skiing, inflatable rides, wet suit and mountain bike hire. The sheltered bay ensures safety for beginners while the challenges of the open sea can be found beyond the bay! Courses are available and groups welcome. Swimming pools are in St Andrews and Leven.
TENNIS
Elie sports club is based next to the Golf Club, a 5-minute walk from Linmara. The club boasts 8 tennis courts, practice wall, 2 golf courses, putting course, driving range, bowling green and cyber cafe Pavilion. Golf and tennis coaching is available for all ages and is booked throught the Pro Shop next door to the Pavilion.
HORSE RIDING
Horse riding is available at Kilconquhar Castle Estate Equestrian Centre (5-minutes drive). Kilconquhar offers treks, hacks and lessons in their all weather arena. Birthday Parties can be booked and include riding, buffet and party bags!
FOOD & DRINk
Elie is famous for Beach cricket and the Beer Garden of the Ship Inn is a perfect venue to watch Elie cricket team, who play on Sundays (www.ship-elie.co.uk for cricket and BBQ times).
If you enjoy your food there is plenty of choice as there are lots of good pubs and restaurants on offer. Within walking distance you will find The 19th Hole (sky TV), The Pavilion (wifi), Harbour House, The Ship Inn, The Station Bar and Elie Coffee Shop while Kilconquhar pub and Estate is a 5 minute drive and well worth a visit. There is fine dining on offer at Sangster in Elie, The Cellar in Anstruther or the Peat Inn Resturant.
SHOPPING
For more extensive shopping Leven has Sainsburys, Anstruther has the co-op. St Andrews offers a diverse range of specialist shops while fine food shopping Elie can be found in the Delicatessent and Adross Farm Shop is 1 mile East of Elie .
THEATRE
The Byers Theatre in St Andrews is well worth a visit as is the Cinema (01334 474902). Dundee has the DCA and Caird Hall.
